The girls narrowly escaped defeated with an 84-78 win, but the boys easily defeated the Amarillo team 117-49.
Jessica Roy and Chloe DeWeese were the only first place individual finishers for the girls. Roy won the 100-meter butterfly with a time of 1:50.46, and DeWeese on the 100-meter backstroke with a time of 1:27/90. The 400-meter freestyle relay team comprised of Amanda Latham Maria Mendez, Jamie Anderson an Talia Case also took first place with a time of 5:23.41.
Other swimmers competing for Altus were Micah Ward , Tarryn Mackey, Crystia Briggs, Aerial Bingman, Briana Brigman and Kimberly Pierce.
The boys won eight out of 11 events. A state qualifying time of 2:08.67 started off the competition in the 200-meter medley relay, swam by Daniel Robbins, E.J. Bacon, Michael Rogers and Colten Sorrels. Chris McMahon won the 200-meter freestyle in 2:25/86. Kacy Hurst won the 50-meter freestyle with a time of 29:37, while Rogers swam the 100-meter butterfly in 1:16.73.
Robbins swam 59:04, which was state qualifying time, in the 100-meter freestyle and he also swam a state qualifying time in the 100-meter backstroke in 1:10.91.
Cody Charles won the 100-meter breaststroke with a time of 1:25.12, his personal best.
Robbins, Kris Hurst, Sorrels, and Bacon won the 400-meter freestyle relay with a state qualifying time of 4:24.20.
Other swimmers contributing were Skyler Shaw, Dalton Latham, Shane Foshee, Brandon Samuels, Kyle Jencks, Taylor Hand, Taylor Cole, Brandon Alcorta, Stephen Burns, Kolten Kistler, Kevin Burns, Lance Holt, Bryce Correra and Jordan Nassaney.
Altus will host Westmoore at 3 p.m., Friday.
