According to reports, Reimer had gone across the street from her home in the 1000 block of S. Park Lane to get her dog. Reimer started crossing the street back to her house just as a north bound van went past her. A south bound car, driven by Victoria Haumesser, 36, of Altus, was south bound at the same time. Haumesser didn’t see the child crossing the street from behind the van, and hit her.
Altus Police Chief Mike Patterson said the child flew up onto the hood of the car, and traveled some distance on the hood. When Haumesser hit her brakes, the girl slid off and the car rolled over her before coming to a stop.
The girl was trapped under the car. The Altus Fire Department rescue team arrived on the scene and used inflatable air bags to lift the car off the girl. She was then transported to Jackson County Memorial Hospital where she was admitted.
Although the extent of her injuries were not known, Patterson said he didn’t think they were life-threatening.
Haumesser was cited for speeding.
