The 21st Annual Salvation Army Christmas Food Drive will be held this week in the Altus School District. Each year, Altus school children collect thousands of non-perishable food items during the drive, helping to feed hundreds of local families all yearlong. Above, Roosevelt Elementary School students are preparing for the food drive. They are (seated, from left) MaKayla Zamarron, Chris West, Jermaine Jones, (standing) Sheyenne Neal, Katelyn Saavedra, and David Finch. The Salvation Army suggests donations of canned goods such as vegetables, tuna, ravioli, or fruit, as well as dry goods like flour, shortening, stuffing mixes, or instant potatoes.
