Altus police are seeking the public's assistance in helping to catch thieves associated with a rash of recent burglaries. "Most of the burglaries have happened around the noon hour and in the area west of Main and north of Broadway, but there have been burglaries reported in other areas, too," said Police Detective Mike Turner.

Turner said that he feels a majority of the burglaries are being committed by the same people, "Most of the burglaries are being done during the day, in the same area, so we feel those involved are probably on foot and live nearby."

Turner also said that two individuals were captured on home security video walking away from one of the burglarized houses and that detectives are currently analyzing the tape.

"One of the best ways to catch people like this for citizens to report any suspicious activity in their own neighborhoods," said Police Chief Mike Patterson. "If a citizen sees strangers walking through their neighborhood looking at houses, or walking through someone else's property, give us a call. A lot of crime can be stopped before it happens when concerned citizens get involved."

If you have any information about these crimes, please contact the Altus Police Department. You could also receive a reward if your information leads to the arrest and conviction of the suspects. Information can also be given anonymously by calling 482-TIPS.
