Cross reappointed to hospital board

Dr. Lionel Cross took the oath of office upon his reappointment to the Jackson County Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees. The Trustees met for their regular monthly meeting Monday in the large conference room of the hospital.

The board approved the minutes from the June 28, 2010 Board of Trustees meeting.

Mrs. Ford reported that the outreach clinics had a total of 176 admissions and 59 outpatient surgeries that were contributed to JCMH for the month of June. Dr. Melinda Powers, Family Practice, joined the JCMH Medical Clinic July 5. Dr. Kristen Savath, Pediatrician, joined the Pediatric Clinic July 26 and Dr. Tracy Burton, OB/GYN, will join Women’s Health Associates in September.

Mr. Wilson reported on physician recruitment activity. Recruitment efforts continue for Emergency Medicine, Psychiatry and General Surgery.

Fixed Assets from Funded Depreciation and Designated Funds to Funded Depreciation were approved in the amount of $37,198.52.

Mr. Pope reviewed the second quarter safety report including fire drills conducted, fire system inspection, new employee orientation and work related injuries.

The board approved the conflict of interest statement determining there were no conflicts disclosed by the JCMH Board of Trustees for the period ending June 30, 2010.

Mr. King reported the highlights from the Performance Improvement Council that met on July 5, 2010.

Dr. Katseres, Chief of Staff, reported from the JCMH Medical Staff Executive Committee meeting that was held on July 12. The Board approved requests for privileges, reappointments, additional privileges and an addition to the JCMH Bylaws regarding Consulting Staff.

Mrs. Davison reported that financials for the month of June ended with a net loss of $135,187 and a year to date net income of $926,970.

Mr. Wilson discussed the Medicare Value Based Purchasing Program that will be effective January 2011. Medicare will withhold 1% of Medicare payments to hospitals and will allow an opportunity for hospitals to earn all or a portion of it back based on scores of Core Measures, SCIP Measures and HCAHPS.
