Pre-season wheat meetings set for Tuesday

This coming Tuesday both Harmon and Jackson Countys will offer pre-season wheat meetings for local and area wheat producers.

Two meetings will be offered with one being held at the Gould Community Building (located just east of Stockman’s Bank) from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. and the next meeting being at the Jackson County Extension Office (located on the north side of the WOSC Campus) from 6 – 8 p.m.

Meetings will cover local variety trial results, variety discussion, wheat seed drill survey study results, soil fertility, seed treatments, weed control and herbicide discussions and canola production management topics (Altus meeting only).

Speakers will include Mark Gregory, Southwest Area Agronomy Specialist, Dillon and Katy Butchee and Casey Andrews, Agronomy Graduate Students, Plant and Soil Science Department, OSU, Terry Pitts, Southwest District IPM Specialist, and Lawrence Tomah and Gary Strickland, Extension Educators, Harmon and Jackson County’s. There will also be sponsored meals served at each meeting. Pre-registration is requested (but not required) by 9 a.m. on Monday, August 9th, at either the Harmon County Extension Office, 580-688-3584, or the Jackson County Extension Office, 580-482-0823. So make plans on attending these informative meetings.
