Freightliner tractor overturns after hitting cow near Frederick

A personal injury collision was reported at 10 p.m. Monday 2 miles west of Frederick on State Highway 5 in Tillman County.

According to reports from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, a 1999 Freighliner tractor driving by Francis Pope, 61, of Oklahoma City, was east bound on State Hwy 5 when it struck a cow.

The vehicle then veered off the north side of the roadway striking a concrete culvert causing the vehicle to overturn 1/4 times, coming to rest on its passenger side and blocking the roadway.

There were no passengers in the vehicle. Seatbelts were equipped and in use. Airbags were equipped but did not deploy.

Pope was taken by Frederick EMS to Frederick Memorial Hospital where he waas listed in stable condition with injures to his leg and lower back.
