ALTUS — Western Oklahoma State College was recently granted approval to implement a revised In-State/Out-of-State Status of Enrolled Students policy. This revised policy will allow Western to effectively serve the needs of the military community. The policy states that members of the armed forces stationed in Oklahoma or temporarily present through military orders, upon providing evidence of full-time active duty, are eligible to receive in-state tuition status, as well as their spouse and dependent children.

When service members and their families are transferred out-of-state, they will continue to receive in-state classification for as long as they remain enrolled at Western. This policy also serves military members who have formerly served in full-time active duty, who remain in Oklahoma after their service. These individuals may retain in-state status without the 12 month requirement, if they establish residency as defined in the revised policy.

Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education Chancellor, Glen D. Johnson, said, “WOSC is to be commended for their continued efforts to address the educational needs of their students.”
