Blair hosted the district softball fast pitch tournament on Monday.

Blair and Granite defeated Duke to make it to the finals.

Blair won over Duke by 25-3 and Granite defeated Duke 17-0.

The teams had to win two in order to go to regionals.

Blair defeated Granite 6-5 in the first game.  Blair scored two runs in the 1st inning on back- to-back hits from Ali Tutten and Korinne Medlock.

Granite took a 3-2 lead in the second inning going on to score two more in the 4th inning making the lead 5-2.

Ali Tutten then lead the 5th inning off with a single and Alexis Davis made it to first on a fielder’s choice.  Cassie Smith then hit a 2 run scoring single and the score was 5-4 after the 5th inning.

Riley James walked to lead off in the 6th inning and Korinne Medlock made it to base with both girls eventually scoring.

That made the score 6-5 in favor of Blair.  Granite loaded the bases in the bottom of the 7th, but the game ended with a girl out at 1st base.

Blair won the second game 4-3 scoring 4 runs in the 6th inning.  Granite answered with 3 runs in the bottom of the 6th inning.

Ali Tutten caught an over the shoulder back hand line drive to end the game.

Cassie Smith was the winning pitcher in the first game against Granite and Taylor Rohrer was the winning pitcher for the second game. Coach Whitney Christian said “Granite likes to bunt and steal bases, thus putting a lot of pressure on the defense.”  He said the Blair girls did a good job during the tournament by throwing several base runners out.

Blair advances to the regional tournament.
