Competitive dancers from Off the Wall Dance Productions will hold a garage sale Saturday, Nov. 3, at the Altus Community Center. The sale, which will feature everything from clothes to household goods and toys to furniture, will begin at 8 a.m.

OTW’s competition team is working to raise money to attend dance conventions during the upcoming dance season. Like the recent Tremaine National Dance Convention and Competition the team attended this past summer, dance conventions provide opportunities for the students to work with professional dancers and choreographers.

At Tremaine, dancers met and worked with Chucky Klapow, a choreographer and dancer seen in Michael Jackson’s This is It, and Disney’s High School Musical. They also met and attended presentations with choreographers Kenny Ortega (This is It, High School Musical, Dirty Dancing), Debbie Allen (Fame), Dee Dee Wood (Mary Poppins, The Sound of Music, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang), Josh Bergasse (Smash), and Zach Woodlee (Glee).

Opportunities such as these give young dancers insight into the workings of the performance art communities while helping them make connections in their art form. This year OTW’s director Leah Wall plans for the team of dancers to attend more conventions, where they will experience intensive training in the various genres of dance.

For more information on this or other fundraisers, or if you would like to donate items for the sale, contact any OTW competition team member or call 481-0818.
