Cyclist dies in Thanksgiving day accident

According to reports from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, a Thanksgiving day accident in Greer County has left one dead.

John Malcolm Jr., 65, of Mangum, was driving a 2006 Kawasaki motorcycle Thursday near the intersection of CR 1465 and CR 2040 at about 11:17 a.m. when the accident occurred.

The report states that Malcolm was east bound on CR 1465 when he failed to negotiate a curve, leaving the road to the left side. He then impacted a delineator and culvert. He was thrown 214 feet from the point of impact.

Malcom was not waring a helmet.

The accident was investigated by Trooper James Wallace of the Jackson County detachment of Troop M. He was assisted by Capt. Johnny Freemon, Lt. Thomas Pogue, Trooper Kevin Miller of the Harmon County detachment, Greer County Sheriff’s Department, Greer County EMS, and the Granite Police Department.
