Cemetery, Grounds & Parks Director Freddy Perez was on hand this past week as one of the docks at the Altus City Reservoir was taken out of the water for repairs. Over the years the foam that has held the ramp up in the east section of the reservoir has eroded. With the help of a giant crane, the dock was lifted out and placed on a stand to dry out. After the moss dries out, a sandblaster will be used to clean up the dock, then new barrels will be placed under the dock before it is placed back in the water. Perez said this is just one of the many improvement projects planned at the reservoir. Perez and his crew have already fixed the broken rock wall near the entrance of the reservoir, and plan on trimming up the trees and doing a general clean up of the area. “People use the reservoir on a daily basis, and we want the citizens to have a nice place to walk, fish, and enjoy the park facilities,” Perez said.
