The Western Oklahoma State College Pioneers were defeated 83-75 by Connors on Monday night.
Western almost pulled off the upset on the road building a 12 point cushion in the second half before Connors regained the lead with 7 minutes to play.
Western went ahead with 2:55 to play in the game (71-70), but were unable to close out the contest.
Connors State went 36-48 from the Free throw line to the Pioneers 10-14.
Stirling Thomas led all scorers with 29 points and DiiJon Allen-Jordan chipped in 15.
Western drops to 10-8 and 1-6 in Region 2.
” We are losing winnable games at the end , but we continue to play better and harder with every contest. At this point, we have been on the road 4 of the 6 Region games. We are looking forward to playing home,” Coach De La Barrera said.
The Western women lost to Connors 80-49.
The Western women host Murray tonight. The women’s game is at 6 p.m. and the men at 8 p.m.
