Altus police responded to Scooters, 2101 East Broadway, early Saturday morning, Feb. 23. After arriving at approximately 1:36 a.m., police discovered someone had been stabbed.

The 21-year-old victim told police while he was walking to his vehicle when the 21-year-old suspect he identified walked by and stabbed him in the abdomen. The victim was transported to Jackson County Memorial Hospital by E.M.S. and later admitted to the hospital for his injuries.

The suspect was located a short time later at the EZ Go convenience store, 2516 East Broadway, and was taken into custody. He was jailed on a complaint of Assault with a Deadly Weapon. The suspect, Jeremiah Wolf, has been released.

According to Police Chief Tim Murphy, Wolf was released because the Jackson County District Attorney’s office has requested additional follow up by investigators. “The case against Wolf has not been dismissed,” said Murphy, “but rather declined to file pending the outcome of the follow up investigation.”
