Vehicle in residential hit and run said to have been stolen

Altus Police were called to 1312 “F” Street at 2.42 a.m. Sunday morning after a car hit the front of the residence and fled the scene. According to reports, the vehicle was a black Chevrolet Impala.

According to Chief of Police Tim Murphy, the driver of the vehicle fled the scene after the impact and has not been identified. There were no injuries reported by the occupants inside the residence.

At approx. 3:30 p.m. on Monday, Murphy said that the owner of the vehicle told police that he had left the vehicle at his residence, and when he returned home several days later, the vehicle was gone.

Police continue their investigation.
