During the regular meeting of the Altus Municipal Authority on Tuesday evening, council will consider, discuss and possibly vote on implementing procedures to restart the processes for the Senior Citizens Center, and direct staff accordingly.
the AMA/City has been at a standstill with the Senior Citizens Center after being bogged down with the problems of location, along with the need to amass additional funds from the MAPS project. The Senior Center was last onthe AMA agendas for Sept. 18 and Oct. 2, 2012. At the Council meeting of Feb. 19, 2013, Councilman Rick Henry requested that the project be addressed again. It was said that there is a definate need to move forward with this project from both the senior community, as well as the requirement to use the MAPS funds on the projects voted on in the Special Election of August 26, 2008, in a timely manner.
