Peggy Alyene Payne, 62, of Altus, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012, at her home. Graveside services were scheduled for 2 p.m. today at the Altus City Cemetery with the Rev. Kevin Baker officiating. Burial will be under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home.

Peggy Alyene Surles was born on Aug. 15, 1950 in Altus to George and Billie June (Hayhurst) Surles. She married Jimmy Ray Payne in Elmer on Dec. 19, 1969. She enjoyed playing on computers and slot machines and also liked watching movies.

Her mother, husband, and her grandparents, Peggy “WaWa” and Wilburn “Cracker” Southwick, and J.D. and Ella Surles, preceded her in death.

Survivors include two sons, Keith Payne and wife Tisha of Oklahoma City, and Mark Payne and wife Shanna of Altus; a granddaughter, Jacey Payne; her father, George Surles of Altus; a sister, Amanda Henning and husband John of Geuda Springs, Kan.; two brothers, George Surles Jr. and wife Franka of Fritch, Texas, and Franklin Louis Surles of Altus; and many other nieces and nephews.
