Graveside services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at the Altus City Cemetery, officiated by Suzanne Mollison. Arrangements are under the directions of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home. There will be a visitation for family and friends Sunday, March 10, from 2 to 4 p.m., at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
Bonnie grew up in the Friendship area going to school at Ozark and Friendship schools. She married Willard Johnson on Oct. 2, 1937, in Altus. After marriage they lived at Lugert, Blair, and Wichita, Kan. She moved back to Altus in 1943. Bonnie had worked at Woolsworth and Spears Grocery on Liveoak. She loved working in the yard taking care of her flowers. She was an avid bowler, belonging to the Traveling Bowling League Team. She was a wonderful cook who loved baking. She enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, and found time to work “find a word puzzles.” Bonnie loved spending summers in Colorado with family and meeting new friends.
Bonnie is survived by her daughter, Linda Barclay and husband Bob of Altus; son-in-law, Sonny Preston of Altus; grandchildren, Sheila and David Lara of Altus, Bonnie and John Green of Murdock, Kan., Robert Wayne Barclay of Highland, Ill., Kelly Preston of Belleville, Ill., Brent and Earlene Stone of Blair, Travis Preston of Norman, and Kyle Preston of Junction City, Kan.; 14 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Gaynell Preston; husband Willard Jesse Johnson; mother, Etta Mae Barnes; father, Clarence “Chief” Barnes; brothers, Elmer, Virgil, Leon, and L.B. (Sug) Barnes.
