Jackson County Memorial Hospital welcomes Dr. Sung Deuk Kim to the hospital and the JCMH Medical Clinic. Dr. Kim will be joining Dr. Xiong, Dr. Nimri, and Dr. Mahaney in the Hospitalist role. Hospitalists care for hospitalized patients who have been referred from community primary care doctors, emergency room doctors or other physicians at the hospital.

September is Deaf Awareness Month

September is Deaf Awareness Month. According to the U.S. Census Bureau’s 2018 American Community Survey, an estimated 8,500 Oklahomans of all ages have hearing difficulties. The data indicates that 52 percent of Oklahomans with hearing difficulties, ages 21-64, are employed compared to 38.7 percent of Oklahomans with other disabilities.

Oklahoma pianist to perform at Museum of the Western Prairie

Rosas, Vasquez crowned homecoming royalty

Rocio Rosas is the 17-yearold daughter of Ernesto and Maria Rosas. In her four years at Altus High School Rocio has been involved in athletic training, Link Crew, and Blu Harmonix. She also serves as a manager for volleyball, captain of the Mat Maids, and PR Coordinator for the Studnet Council. Rocio plans to attend the University of Oklahoma and study Public Relations or Marketing. Her favorite things about AHS are all the different clubs and events that allow everyone to be involved.

Wellness Symposium scheduled for Sept. 20-21

Sculpture by Oklahoma artist installed at NBC Oklahoma in Altus

A newly commissioned sculpture titled, Western Psyche, now lives at the NBC Oklahoma location at 101 Sequoyah in Altus. The sculpture, by Christie Hackler, is a stainless-steel tumbleweed with two bronze butterflies.
