What is an idol? Well, an idol is anything that takes your focus off God and puts it on some-thing or some-one else. What is your focus; what is your #1? An idol doesn’t have to be a bad thing; it might be an otherwise okay thing. Some folks park their idols in their garage. Some of us keep our idols in the barn. Others put their idols in their safe. For others, our idol is our work or it might be a hobby or even an activity done with family. Now, don’t get me wrong, family is to be our first ministry. God comes first! An idol might be obvious, or it could be a bit more subtle; even something to do with church, such as a cross or a picture of Jesus or what about a really nice church building?

Altus Public School Board calls for bond election

During the regularly scheduled meeting of the Altus Board of Education, the Board approved a resolution authorizing the calling and holding of a Special General Obligation Bond Election. Members of the board agreed to a 6.7-million- dollar bond which would be a continuation of the 2019 bond and will not be an increase in current property taxes.
