Heart attacks occur after treatmet of infections

DEAR DR. ROACH: My mom had a throat and palate infection that was treated in 2017, and about two weeks later, she had a heart attack. In 2023, she had pneumonia, and was briefly hospitalized and treated, but again about two weeks later, she had another heart attack. We asked her cardiologist if there is a relationship between either the infections themselves or the treatment of infections and heart attacks, but he was not aware of any.

Martha Road kicks off another year of the Awana Program

Awana Directors Greg and Michelle Gilstad have announced that the Awana Program at Martha Road Baptist Church will start back with a sign-up night on August 23rd for the 2023-24 school year at 6 PM. The first night of Awana activities will begin on August 30th at 5:55 PM. The church offers clubs for five age groups: Cubbies (three- and four-year-olds). Sparks (grades K through 2), Truth and Training (grades 3 – 6), Trek (grades 7 – 8) and Journey (9-12 grades).

Temps soar across the south. Wanted for questioning: Heat Miser

A uthorities are searching for a suspect accused of making the temperatures soar across Texas and Oklahoma. The suspect, Heat Miser, can often be found feuding with his brother, Snow Miser. With recent temperatures well over a hundred degrees, authorities are searching for Heat Miser for questioning. Heat Miser also goes by known aliases Mr. Sun, Mr. Heat Blister, and Mr. 101, although with these temperatures, he may be calling himself Mr. 118 these days. Heat Miser was heard bragging, “Whatever I touch starts to melt in my clutch,” as he ran through one family’s backyard.

Lankford, Budd stand up for religious liberty of federal contractors

Senators James Lankford (ROK) and Ted Budd (R-NC) and their colleagues introduced a resolution of disapproval under the Congressional Review Act on the Department of Labor’s (DOL) Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) final rule, which rescinds the 2020 rule “Implementing Legal Requirements Regarding the Equal Opportunity Clause’s Religious Exemption” issued by the Trump Administration to protect faithbased contractors from discrimination.
