November is National Adoption Month. The month raises awareness and increases outreach concerning the need for permanent families across the United States. Every year, there is a growing need for children of all ages to find secure and safe families. All month long, National Adoption Month events provide tools and resources to help individuals and families understand the process and learn more about adoption.

TeamBirth program at JCMH puts patient communication first

Jackson County Memorial Hospital Women’s Center has begun a new approach to patient-centered care during deliveries called TeamBirth. TeamBirth is a communication and teamwork process that closes gaps in communication during childbirth. Ariadne Labs, a joint center for health systems innovation at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health created this program.

AHS production of “Oklahoma!” opens on anniversary of statehood

Oklahoma! is one of my favorite musicals and how fitting is it that Altus High School’s production of the musical happened to fall on the 116th anniversary of Oklahoma receiving statehood? Oklahoma! is the first musical written by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein. The play is set in farm country outside the town of Claremore, Indian Territory, in 1906.
