Awana Directors Greg and Michelle Gilstad have announced that the Awana Program at Martha Road Baptist Church will start back with a sign-up night on August 23rd for the 2023-24 school year at 6 PM. The first night of Awana activities will begin on August 30th at 5:55 PM. The church offers clubs for five age groups: Cubbies (three- and four-year-olds). Sparks (grades K through 2), Truth and Training (grades 3 – 6), Trek (grades 7 – 8) and Journey (9-12 grades).

During a typical Awana night the children and youth are involved in Bible study, Scripture memory and recreation activities during the hour and a half program. When the clubbers recite Scripture verses and complete their handbooks, they are awarded special patches and pins they can wear on their Awana uniforms.

Awana is a non-denominational organization that partners in ministry with the local church. The Awana name stands for “Approved Workman are Not Ashamed”, which comes from the Bible verse found in 2 Timothy 2:15. There are approximately 12,000 churches with Awana clubs in the U.S. as well as 13,000 international Awana programs.

Awana takes place on Wednesdays from 5:55 – 7:30 PM throughout the school year. For more information, please contact the church at 482-3377 or the church website at www.martharoad. org. Martha Road Baptist Church is located four miles north of Wal-Mart on Highway 283.
