Walmart announces application for 10th annual open call

Walmart’s application period for Open Call 2023 is now open, offering small business owners and entrepreneurs the chance to pitch their products to be sold on shelves in Walmart or Sam’s Club, or online at Walmart.com.

Open Call began in 2014 and has grown into a $350 billion commitment to strengthen the U.S. manufacturing sector. Over the past decade, Open Call has presented robust selling opportunities to more than 9,000 business owners and entrepreneurs.

“Open Call reinforces several American qualities, including innovation, entrepreneurship and creativity,” said Jason Fremstad, Walmart’s senior vice president of supplier development. “The tenth anniversary makes it even more special because the program is growing, and more suppliers and manufacturers have the opportunity to sell their unique products.”

In 2022, three Oklahoma businesses were selected to sell their products online or in stores: Kooler Kube and Kooler Gel, Screw’s Southern Soda, UltraPet™ Curcumin for Pets!, and Dig Defence Small/Medium Animal Barrier.

Entrepreneurs who earn a “golden ticket” — signifying a deal for Walmart to sell their products on its shelves or online — can secure new customers, enabling business growth. Additionally, all Open Call finalists will have access to mentoring sessions with Walmart leaders and special guests, where they can gain valuable business insights and resources.
