The Duke Tigers have wrapped up another season of successful basketball. Their 29-2 record and appearance in the state tournament were only two of their many accomplishments.
The Western Pioneer men’s basketball team had a successful regular season, finishing with a 23-7 record and securing third place in league play. Despite this, they will enter the Region tournament seeded fourth, which will take place from March 1416 at the Maybe Center in Muskogee.
Hayden Castillo, freshman point guard for the Altus High School Lady Bulldogs basketball team, received the Newcomer of the Year award when the district coaches met recently. Castillo also made Third Team All District.
The Duke Tigers opened the Class B Boys’ State Tournament with a 51-41 victory over Braggs. They were eliminated on day two by eventual State Champion Wilson (Henryetta) by a score of 59-38.
Several members of the Duke Tigers basketball team received honors from the Cotton Belt Conference recently. Jordan Chevis was named the Most Valuable Player in the conference.
Altus High’s Lady Bulldog basketball team fell to perennial powerhouse Carl Albert by a score of 50-27 at Piedmont on Saturday to end their 202324 season. The Lady Bulldogs received a bye to start the first round of their regional tournament.
