Here are the recommended changes to the Altus City Charter

Posted

As promised, The Altus Times is providing free to the public the proposed changes to the Altus City Charter. The attached document outlines the commentary for the question put before the Altus City Council Tuesday night. In a split vote, the City Council approved the ballot language that follows.

The document probably provides more information than you want, so if you just want to read the specific changes that are recommended, you can go to page 9 of the first document.

We have taken off the paywall on a story about the conflicting issues that acting City Manager Gary Jones and City Attorney Michael Beason discovered while trying to meet the submission of the questions to the Jackson County Election Board 60 days before the election and state requirement that election must be held within 30 days, but not sooner than 20 days, after that last publication of the legal notice publication.

We’re also including a copy of the Altus City Charter as it was adopted on Sept. 10, 2013 in case you want to review those documents with current language.
