Adelina “Lina” Ortega, 88, Altus, passed away on Friday, January 19, 2024, at Magnolia Creek Nursing and Rehab. A rosary will take place at 6:00 PM on Wednesday, January 24th, at the Kincannon Memorial Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2:00 PM Thursday, January 25th, at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church with Bishop Joe S.

Vasquez officiating. Burial will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of the Kincannon Funeral Home and Cremation Service.

Adelina Vasquez was born on January 20, 1935, in Stamford, Texas to Juan and Genoveba (Elias) Vasquez. She married Louis Garcia Ortega on November 28, 1953, in Benjamin, Texas and to this union eight children were born. Lina was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. She and Louis shared 68 years together before his passing in 2022.

Lina was a member of the Prince of Peace Catholic Church. She enjoyed listening to Spanish music, dancing, thrift store shopping, and especially spending time with her family and grandchildren. No matter the role she played or title given ~ daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, or friend; the love Lina shared is her legacy.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis; parents, Juan and Genoveba; a daughter, Dora Villeda; granddaughters, Christina Ortega and Melissa Balicki; and two brothers, Juan Vasquez and Tony Vasquez.

Lina is survived by seven children, Edward Ortega (Wichita Falls, Texas), Danny Ortega and wife, Jeanette (Euless, Texas), Louis “Bozo” Ortega, Jr.

(Altus), Donna Gutierrez and husband, Joe (Tipton, Oklahoma), Carolyn Zamora (Vernon, Texas), Janie Garcia and husband, Rudy (San Antonio, Texas), and Mary O. Esparza (Altus); 17 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; brother, Jesse Vasquez (Stamford, Texas); sisters, Lola Sanchez (Abilene, Texas), Mary Smith (Sweetwater, Texas), Lydia Sanchez (Cloverdale, California), and Lisa Bustamante (Stamford, Texas); brothers-in-law, Rev. Larry Ortega and wife, Rebecca, Robert Ortega and wife, Janie, and Joe Ortega, Sr. and wife, Carmen; sistersin- law, Marcelina Brewer and husband, Donald, Dolores Montgomery, Francis Lopez, Carmen G.

Ortega, and Maria Alejandra Burciaga; and many other family members and friends.

Viewing hours for Mrs.

Ortega will be 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM Monday, January 22nd – 24th and Thursday January 25th 8:00 AM – Noon at the funeral home.
