Burial will follow in Poage cemetery, northeast of Colony, under the direction of Lockstone Funeral Home. Betty was born July 9, 1943, at home on the farm near Olustee, OK to George Thomas “GT” Simmons and Lorene Bell (Willeford) Simmons and passed away Tuesday, January 10, 2024 at Corn Heritage Village of Corn, at the age of 80 years, 6 months and 2 days.

Betty grew up on the family farm 3 miles west of Olustee along with her older sister, Oma Faye, and younger sister, Beverly Jean. They all attended school in Olustee where Betty graduated in May of 1961. She also was a baptized member of the Olustee Baptist Church. She often shared stories of sleeping on the screened porch during the hot summers and swimming in the tank (a pond as we know it). She enjoyed riding horses and was a member of the Red River Riders Club where during Olustee’s 1961 annual Parade and Play Day Celebration, Lt. Gov George Nigh placed the “Ten-Gallon Crown” on her head naming her Riding Club Queen. This has always been an accomplishment she was so proud of and a memory she loved to share.

Betty married Thomas Henry Bilodeau in 1962 and Robin Michele was born in that union. Jeanne Rachelle was born in 1966 and grew up in Adams, WI. Betty then married Ronald Gene Luekenga at the Jackson County Courthouse in Altus during her coffee break on May 19th, 1970. Ronnie brought to the family with him a son, Ronald Shawn. Shortly thereafter, they moved to the Colony area to take over the Luekenga family farming business and later Brandi Rachele was born in 1977.

Betty worked as a Teller at the First National Bank & Trust Co. in Weatherford for 27 years. She deeply enjoyed spending time with family, going to basketball games, watching the Thunder play on TV, reading, and watching her puppies play.

As the years passed, she continued attending her grandkids basketball, softball and baseball games and even caught a few of her great-grand’s ballgames when she could. Memorial may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.

Betty is survived by her husband Ronnie Luekenga of the home near Colony. Four children: a daughter, Robin Michele Adams of Foss, OK, her children: Robby & Tonya Adams, Ericka & Steven Schuster and Cody & Jennifer Adams. A stepson, Shawn and wife DeAnna Luekenga of Scottsdale, AZ and their children: Abigail & Neil Johnson, Zane & Lindsey Luekenga. A daughter, Jeanne and husband Dieter Mulac of Colchester, VT, and their children: Devin, Justin & Jordan.

A daughter, Brandi and husband Dustin Goodman of Ringwood, OK and their children: Lillie and Grady. She also cherished her fifteen great-grandchildren. One sister, Beverly and her husband Barrie Toburen of Westmoreland, KS and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, GT and Lorene Simmons, two sister’s Georgia Dean Simmons and Oma and her husband, Don Skuggen and a niece. As well as a son-in-law, Rick Adams and granddaughter, Stephanie Adams Morrow.
