Janet Larue Johnson passed away surrounded by her family on Sunday, October 1, 2023, in Duncan, OK at the age of 75.

Janet was born on August 17, 1948, in Marlow, Oklahoma, to Dillard “Debo” and Oneita Jane (Wilson) Kulbeth. She graduated from Olustee High School in 1968. Janet married the love of her life, Gene Johnson, on September 12, 1971, in Olustee, OK. They were married for 49 wonderful years before he passed away in 2020. Janet’s pride and joy was her family. She loved spending time with her husband, kids, grandchildren, sisters and brothers. She and Gene loved quick trips to Shreveport and Las Vegas. She always talked about Palm Springs and going back one day. Most recently, she spent most of her time watching the Hallmark channel and visiting with family members. She had such a gentle spirit; she quickly became everyone’s favorite at the nursing home.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers: Ronnie Voight, Mack Voight; and brother-inlaw, Royce Johnson.

Janet is survived by two sons: Colby Johnson of Oklahoma City; Geoff Johnson and wife Michele of Duncan; four grandchildren: Brandon Johnson of Riverton, Kansas; Zac Johnson and wife Victoria of Newcastle, OK, Ava Johnson, and Samuel Johnson; great-grandchild, Stutson Johnson; brothers: Jackie Kulbeth and Evelyn of Marlow, Trent Kulbeth and Annette of Marlow, Doc Kulbeth and wife Debbie of Olustee, OK, David Kulbeth and wife Gina of Wichita Falls, TX; sisters: Jade Sugg of Norman and Janie Ball of Moore; sisters-in-law: Linda Voight of Duncan, Sheila Voight of Marlow, Peggy Miller and husband Robert; brothers-in-law: Kenneth Johnson and wife Barbara and David Johnson; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family will be receiving family and friends on Tuesday, October 3 from 5:00PM to 7:00PM at Whitt Funeral Home.

Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, October 4, at 2:00PM in the Whitt Funeral Home Chapel in Duncan with Pastor Brandon Allbritton officiating. Burial will follow in Marlow Cemetery. All arrangements have been entrusted to the Whitt Funeral Home in Duncan.
